TW: You recently returned to Metro Detroit after spending some time away. What brought you back?

SL: I left Michigan 8 years ago, but I always considered Michigan home and always said if I found the right job I would come back. After learning about the Youth Engagement Director position at Temple Beth El, I applied immediately and am thrilled to be back with my family and at TBE where it all started for me!

TW: Where did life take you before you returned home?

SL: I worked and lived all over the world. From New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, California, Oregon, Washington State, British Columbia, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland and Boston. Most recently I was living and working in Seattle, Washington.

TW: What fictional place would you most like to travel to (and why?)

SL: I really love the Star Wars movies, specifically Chewbacca! So I would love to go to Kashyyyk which is the wookiee home planet (major nerd alert moment!!!).

TW: What is your ideal Saturday?

SL: If it's nice weather, anything outside; specifically laying in my hammock! If it's not good weather, I love movies and LOTS OF POPCORN!

TW: What's your favorite game? (could be board game, sport, etc.)

SL: I’ve played soccer my whole life -- it will always be my favorite!

TW: What was your AIM screen name and how did you choose it?

SL: Is it sad that I still remember it? ShortnhairyS… I was short, hairy and my name starts with S.

TW: What's one food you could never bring yourself to eat (and why)?

SL: There are not many foods I won’t try at least once, but I don’t eat any kind of candy! I’ve never had M&Ms, Skittles, or Reese's. No chocolate/candy for me!

TW: As a kid, what did you want to be when you "grew up?"

SL: It changed constantly, but for a long time I wanted to be a high school history teacher.

TW: What is your most frequently used emoji?

SL: I didn’t get a smart phone until 2014, so emojis are still somewhat new to me. If I had to choose one, it would have to be it would be the BIG smile emoji because I usually have a big smile on my face.

TW: What do you look for in your Jewish community?

SL: Collaboration, being present, and open-mindedness. I think it’s so important for communities to collaborate and work together.  It's 2018 and while I think tradition is important, I think it is more important to change with the times, make new traditions and be willing to try new things!

TW: Finish the sentence: When I go to The Well...

SL: I want to meet new people!
